McDonough First UMC Donates to Tussahaw Elementary Through 'Angels on the Altar' Project

McDonough, GA – In a heartwarming display of generosity, McDonough First United Methodist Church (UMC) presented a check for $5,485.00 to Tussahaw Elementary School on February 6, providing much-needed financial support to assist students beyond the school’s budgeted resources. They also provided the faculty with fresh donuts to enjoy throughout their day.

The donation was made possible through the church’s annual ‘Angels on the Altar’ project, a special initiative conducted during the Christmas season. Congregation members participated by contributing funds to benefit local students in need, embodying the spirit of giving and community support.

“We are honored to support the students and staff at Tussahaw Elementary,” said Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Long, pastor of McDonough First UMC. “Education is a cornerstone of our community, and we want to ensure that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive.”

The funds will help address needs that go beyond the standard school budget, potentially covering essentials such as classroom supplies, student meals, and other support services. Last year, the church’s donation provided for “calming centers” in every class room.

Tussahaw Elementary School officials expressed deep appreciation for the generous gift, emphasizing its positive impact on students. “This contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children,” said a school representative. “We are grateful for the continued partnership and support from McDonough First UMC.”
